Mr Masahiko Uotani is Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Shiseido Company, Limited – a Japanese beauty company founded in Ginza, Tokyo in 1872.

Since his appointment in April 2014, Mr Uotani’s mission is to rejuvenate Shiseido to become a major global player in the industry, building on its rich Japanese heritage, strength in innovation, and leadership of the skin beauty business. He was the first Shiseido president to be appointed from outside of the company in its more than 140 year history.

Mr Uotani has more than 30 years’ experience in marketing and management at both Japanese and global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies. His previous roles included Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Coca-Cola in Japan.

Mr Uotani holds a Bachelor’s degree from Doshisha University (Kyoto, Japan) and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University (New York City, USA).
